Description
Gadolinium Gallium Garnet (GGG) is a popular material for single crystal substrates due to its excellent crystallographic, mechanical, and optical properties. GGG single crystal substrates are widely used in various applications, including magneto-optics, spintronics, and epitaxial growth of various materials.
GGG has a cubic crystal structure with a lattice constant of about 12.38 Å, which makes it an ideal substrate for the growth of various oxide, nitride, and fluoride thin films. GGG single crystal substrates can be used as a substrate for the growth of epitaxial films of materials such as GaN, InGaN, and YBCO, among others.
GGG is also an excellent magneto-optical material, with a high Verdet constant and a low coercive field, making it suitable for use in magneto-optical devices such as isolators and circulators. GGG single crystal substrates can be used as a substrate for the growth of magneto-optical films, such as TbFeCo and TbDyFe, which can be used in various magneto-optical devices.
In addition to its magneto-optical properties, GGG is also transparent in the UV, visible, and near-infrared regions, making it suitable for use in optical applications. GGG single crystal substrates can be used as a substrate for the growth of epitaxial films of various optoelectronic materials, including GaN, ZnO, and LiNbO3, among others.
